Specter Tenebria Build Guide

Here’s a clean, up-to-date way to build Specter Tenebria (ML Tenebria) for 2025, with stat targets grounded in recent data plus practical gear/artifact choices.

What she does (quickly)

Stealthed single-target nuker who scales hard as units die and who wants enemies debuffed for a massive S3 hit (guaranteed 1-turn Stun, damage scales with number of debuffs). S1 cannot be countered and hits two targets while S3 is on cooldown; Soulburn (-20) gives her an extra turn. Her passive prevents single-target hits while allies who can be attacked still exist, and it stacks ATK & DEF per death (up to 5).

Optimal builds (pick one)

1) PvE carry / Bossing (raid, Abyss, Expeditions)

  • Sets: Destruction/Crit or Destruction/Penetration (Pen if you have good substats).
  • Main stats: ATK% (neck) • CritDmg% (ring) • ATK% (boots) (Swap boots to Speed if you can’t take enough turns.)
  • Substats: CritC ≥100% → CritDmg → ATK% → Speed → Effectiveness (≈20–40% if you want reliable Poison on S1).
  • Artifacts: Kal’adra for max damage vs debuffed targets; Time Matter works if you’re consistently finishing low-HP enemies.
  • Stat goals: Aim ~3.8–4.2k ATK, 300–350% CDmg, 100% CC, 150–190 Speed for general PvE.

Why it works: Kal’adra multiplies your S3 (and S1) damage when targets are debuffed, perfectly matching her kit.

2) Speed/Pen RTA & Arena bruiser-slayer

  • Sets: Speed/Penetration (most popular/currently highest usage) or Crit/Speed.

  • Main stats: ATK% • CritDmg% • Speed boots.

  • Substats: 100% CC → 300–330% CDmg → ATK% → Speed (tune to team) → 15–35% Effectiveness.

  • Artifacts (by game plan):

    • Tagehel’s Ancient Book (team utility—open with Souls to S3 → Soulburn S1 for extra turn);
    • Kal’adra (if others supply Souls and you want raw damage);
    • Chatty/Dignus Orb if you need survivability.
  • Modern speed & bulk benchmarks: Recent RTA aggregates show winning S.Tene builds around ~198–204 Speed, ~3.5k+ ATK, ~320–330% CDmg, with modest bulk (≈10.6k HP / 1200 DEF targets shown). Use this as a directional benchmark and tune to your lobby.

Why it works: Speed lets you take the S3 turn on tempo, Pen set helps your single-target nuke punch through bruisers, and Book enables the S1 Soulburn “double-turn” sequencing.

3) Guild War offense “assassin”

  • Sets: Destruction/Pen or Destruction/Crit (maximize one-shot potential).
  • Main stats: ATK% • CritDmg% • ATK% (swap to Speed boots if turn order requires).
  • Artifacts: Kal’adra for kill pressure; Tagehel’s if your comp is Soul-hungry.
  • Notes: Target ~180–200 Speed if you must move before enemy sustain; otherwise lean harder into ATK/CDmg.

Skill & Mola priorities (efficient)

  1. S3 → +6 (damage, -1T CD at +3).
  2. S1 → +6 (damage/effect chance; important in PvE).
  3. S2 → +3 (small passive stat bumps).

Artifacts — when to use what

  • Kal’adra (Mage 4★): +15–30% damage to debuffed targets; best for max DPS (PvE/GW).
  • Tagehel’s Ancient Book (Mage 4★): Start with 20 Souls (at max); enables S3 → SB S1 lines and overall team Soul economy (PvP/RTA).
  • Time Matter / Abyssal Crown / Chatty / Dignus Orb: niche picks—Time Matter for cleanups; Abyssal Crown for extra Stun RNG; Chatty/Dignus for survivability if you’re getting AoE chipped. (All are Mage-legal; pick based on lobby.)

EE (Exclusive Equipment) note

Specter Tenebria received a Hall of Trials Exclusive Equipment addition in late 2024. The official STOVE post confirms the update (site requires JS to view). In practice, pick the EE option that best fits your plan (more S1 reliability/damage vs. more S3 pressure). If you can’t see the options in-game, check the Hall of Trials exchange screen for her EE variations.

Teams & counters (current trends)

Synergies (recent RTA co-picks):

  • Unbound Knight Arowell, Conqueror Lilias, Mediator Kawerik / Last Rider Krau, Lua / Moon Bunny Dominiel—supports that bring cleanse, CR push, protection, and—critically—debuffs/def-breaks to amplify S3.

Common counters you should draft around:

  • Savior Adin, Unbound Knight Arowell, Conqueror Lilias are frequently successful into her (anti-assassin tools, mitigation, or disruption).

Concrete stat checkpoints (use as targets, not absolutes)

  • PvE carry: 4k ATK / 320–350% CDmg / 100% CC / 160–190 Spd / 20–40% Eff.
  • RTA/Arena speed-pen: ~3.5k ATK / 300–330% CDmg / 100% CC / ~200 Spd (±10) / 15–35% Eff / ~10.6k HP, 1200 DEF as a sanity check. These match aggregated RTA & Fribbels snapshots updated Sept 2025; tune for your gear and lobby.

Quick play pattern

Open with S3 into a debuffed target → if possible Soulburn S1 for the extra turn → rotate S1 while S3 is down (enjoy the 2-hit S1 phase), harvesting kills to stack your passive. Keep her protected from AoE chip with mitigation/cleanse.

Imagine a battlefield where shadows themselves bend and coil, hiding a single figure from the chaos. While allies take the brunt of enemy fury, this figure waits—untouchable, unseen, biding her time. That is Specter Tenebria.

She is not a warrior who charges in first, nor a shield who stands to protect. Instead, she is a phantom assassin, thriving in the downfall of others. As foes weaken and fall, her strength swells, her power compounding with each life lost. Every death sharpens her edge, turning her into a relentless executioner who becomes harder to stop the longer the fight drags on.

Her strikes are cruelly elegant: shadows slip past defenses, her blade lashes out at more than one victim, and when she unleashes her full might, enemies collapse under both poison and terror. Yet through it all, she remains cloaked in a spectral veil, immune to direct retribution until all other targets are gone. She is the lurking dread, the unseen predator—always present, yet untouchable.

In story terms, Specter Tenebria is the embodiment of inevitability. She is the nightmare that lingers after the battle begins, the quiet presence that grows louder with every fallen soul. Where some heroes inspire courage or shield their allies, she represents the opposite—an oppressive inevitability, a grim reaper who grows only stronger as the battlefield grows quiet.
